Abstract:
This data set contains contour lines modeled at a 2' interval covering all of Westchester County, NY. The dataset was developed specifically for Westchester County. Vertical Datum is NAVD88.
Purpose:
The 2' Contours are intended to be used for planning & preliminary engineering applications. They are also designed as a data layer for cartographic map production and for increased image feature interpretation at 1"=100' viewing scale. They are not intended to be used in actual engineering design work and should not replace a field survey.

All photogrammetric mapping products are to meet or exceed National Map Accuracy Standards. This standard states that 90 percent of all photographic details on the orthophotography shall be accurate to within at least 1/30 in. of true position, as determined by test surveys, and none of the photographic details shall be displaced by more than 1/15 in. from true coordinate position. For this project, 1/30 of an inch at publication scale equates to +/-3.33' for the 1"=100' maps.

The source information used in the collection of this dataset was part of the New York State Digital Orthoimagery Program.
Process_Step:
Process_Description:
1. Scanned photography and Aerial Triangulation Solution received from Westchester County. 2. Mass points and breaklines were stereoscopically extracted to develop a Digital Terrain Model with sufficient density and accuracy to support the 2' contour modeling. 3. Contours were modeled using InRoads for MicroStation at a 2' interval 4. Contours were coded per the County's data dictionary. 5. Contour label annotations were placed. 6. Contours were translated from MicroStation to ArcInfo Coverage Format 7. Contours were cleaned and validated 8. Data provided to County and their independant QA/QC consultant 9. QA/QC consultant returned errors (if any) to prodution company 10. Errors corrected and re-delivery to County
