I've downloaded data, now how can I view it?
All of our downloadable files (excluding 2-ft topo) are compressed (zipped) ESRI shapefiles. In order to view the data you need to:

1-	Unzip ALL files to your local hard drive. Be sure to keep all files in the same folder, otherwise the shapefile will not be viewable.
2-	Download a GIS Viewer to view the data (ESRI's ArcGIS Explorer is free).
3-	Open the shapefile (also known as SHP) in the GIS Viewer.

Can I download tax parcel data from the website?
Yes, some tax parcel data is available from our Municipal Tax Parcels page. Although, please note that Westchester County does not maintain tax parcel data (a local government responsibility). Thus, the county is providing access to the data in “as is” condition as obtained from the municipality or its tax mapping contractor. How do I download the 2-foot Topo? What file format is it?
The 2-foot Topo can only be downloaded by using Mapping Westchester County , our Internet Mapping Application. The topo is available as a CAD .dwg file format. For more information please visit our 2-Foot Topo Download Instructions page.

Can I download orthophotos from the website?
No, orthophotos can not be downloaded directed from our website. For more information, please visit our Orthophotography page.

What is Westchester County's Standard Projection for Data?
All of our datasets are in New York State Plane Feet, East Grid Zone; North American Datum 1983 (NAD83).
