To Download and View in Google Earth |

Download Google Earth: Install Google Earth if it is not currently installed on your computer.
To download
software and view the
hardware specifications, go to Google Earth.
Download KMZ file: Right click on ,
select Save Target As... Save and unzip file to desired location.
Open
KMZ file in Google Earth: There are 2 ways
to open a file in Google Earth. a.) Open Google
Earth, from the menu select File > Open. Browse to
saved location (step 2). Press Open. Browser will
zoom to dataset. b.) Open Windows Explorer, browse to
saved location, and double click the kmz file. Google
Earth will open and zoom to dataset.

Download
ESRI file: Right click on
,
select Save Target As... Save and unzip file to desired location.
Follow directions based on icon image
The globe icon with
the letters SHP under it represents a GIS shapefile.
Once unzipped, using a GIS viewer, browse to the shapefile to
view.
The globe icon with the letters COV under it represents a
GIS coverage.
The GIS coverages are zipped ArcInfo interchange files (.e00).
The files need to be imported back into a shapefile before you
can view them in a GIS.

Import .e00 file to a shapefile:
There are a few ways to do this. a.) ArcMap
9.1 (ArcInfo license)
The Import From Interchange File
tool can be found In ArcToolbox under Conversion Tools>
Conversion> To Coverage.
b.)
ArcView 3.X:
Use the Import71 Utility
that is shipped with ArcView. It is located under the ESRI
folder (\ESRI\AV_GIS30\ARCVIEW\ BIN32) called Import71.exe.
Import71 will create a shapefile which can be read by ArcView.
c.)
If you don't have a GIS
1- To import the .e00 file to a shapefile, download Import71.exe from
ESRI's website.
2- To view the shapefile in a GIS, download ArcExplorer (free
GIS browser) from
ESRI's website. |
