  •    Cell Phone Drop Off Locations
    On March 1, 2006, County Executive Andrew Spano signed a law requiring all cellular phones to be recycled, rather than disposed of in the garbage. Old cell phones contain a number of dangerous materials that should be kept out of the waste stream. Recycling cell phones recovers valuable materials and reduces energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.  This dataset maps the locations of certified cell phone drop-off locations in Westchester County.

  •   Compact Fluorescent Light Bulb (CFL) Recycling Centers
    Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFLs) are an energy efficient and cost-effective alternative to the old-fashioned incandescent bulbs. They use 75% less energy and last 10 times longer than the standard incandescent bulbs. (CFLs) contain small amounts of mercury which can be harmful to the environment if they are not properly disposed of. Recycle burnt out CFL drop off locations.

  •   Paint Hardener Stores (Latex)
    Be Responsible!  Dispose of your paint responsibly. Oil-based and Latex paint may be legally and safely disposed of in your garbage by following the simple instructions below.   
       
    For Latex Paint, use products that harden latex paint such as Waste Paint Hardener.  This layer maps the local paint and hardware stores that carry Waste Paint Hardener.
     
    For Oil Based Paint, Kitty Litter is used to harden oil based paints.
