Westchester County Department of Information Technology GIS
Project team can provide technical assistance and guidance
to local governments, community groups, and schools and
libraries for a variety of GIS related services and
training.
For over fifteen years, county staff has been successful in assisting local
governments to obtain grants for "start-up" projects, studies, and
implementation efforts. County GIS staff continues to support local
government GIS initiatives by serving on state GIS committees such
as the Local Government Advisory Group, which is affiliated with the
New York State GIS Coordinating Body.
Today, GIS staff continues to support local government GIS initiatives through
Westchester County Department of Information Technology Municipal
Shared Services Program.

|
|
The GIS Data Sharing Agreement establishes a relationship
between county and local governments for the sharing, creation, use
and maintenance of GIS datasets, as well as providing staff support
for GIS services. The agreement provides significant cost saving
opportunities to municipalities with limited technical and financial
resources. The County agrees to share with local governments and
community groups high accuracy base map, street features,
planimetrics, transportation, facility, and environmental datasets
as part of the Agreement. In exchange, local governments agree to
share digital tax parcel datasets and other local spatial datasets
which become available. |
